Advice on using webflow when site has custom header and footer

Scenario:

  1. We build a page with webflow - omitting a header (menu) and footer.
  2. We export the page as code
  3. We import the code into our website to create a page
  4. We apply our websites universal header and footer to the newly created page

Questions:

  1. Will our websites header and footer still display properly?
  2. Will the css of our websites header and footer interfere with the css of the webflow code?

Will our websites header and footer still display properly?

Yes, absolutely no reason why not.

Will the css of our websites header and footer interfere with the css of the webflow code?

Possibly, but that’s very easy to prevent. Make a CSS file just for your headers and footer, and you can declare it as a custom code in the head of your webflow page, that’s one thing less to add after export. Make that CSS load after the main css. Now make sure the classes you use for your header and footer and their elements aren’t already in use in your site. Use unique classnames. E.g. you can prefix all your header classes with “header-” and all you footer classes with “footer-”.

You can automate thios. If you add custom code with iframes for ehader and footer, you’ll just have to place the html files for those, along with image folder and css file, at the appropriate place, and you won’t even have to edit the html file.
