Blog page templates and how they work with your main website?

#1

Ok, so my website is not a blog website only. I’m trying to figure out how to connect a link from a main page to the blog pages? How do you share a link for the blog pages if they are all in collection pages and not actual web addresses? How do you find them if they are? I have not found one video that answers these questions.

Thanks in advance.

Here is my public share link: [LINK][1]

So I’m assuming that you want to link to one of the blog collection pages?

If that is the case, you would have to place a Collection List element, connect it to the blog posts collection, and then put links in the Collection Items and have the links point to their corresponding pages.

If this isn’t what you are asking, please feel free to leave more information and we’ll try to help you out.

Thank you. No. That is linking from the collection item on the main page of a blog website page or category page. What I would like to do is add a link to my navbar that links to the main blog page where they can select which category/blog they want to read from there.
So maybe what I need to do is create a page for the main “blog” page and use that for the categories/blog collection items. Then do what you have listed here and link those collection items to the corresponding blog pages… ?

I also want to be able to share a direct link on social media but i’m not sure that’s possible?

For the direct link to a blog post, would do a manual link to:
http://your-domain-name/post/slug like (http://sunvalleyimports.com/post/regularly-scheduled-maintenance-and-how-to-check-it)
You get the slug from the collection items when creating posts.
