Blog site without webflow blog?

#1

Hello,

Is there a way to integrate a blog into webflow without using the webflow blog? I've noticed that the blog webflow provides does NOT integrate with a private hosting (download the files and host to our own hosting). So we need an alternative to where we can make it so a customer can have a blog on their site and they can sign in to the blog and add or make changes to said blog. What's the best way to do this?

Or is there an outside blog website I can use a code to place into my site so it can be viewed directly on the site?

I'm sure you can embed a blog into a webflow site using an iFrame. Don't forget to put this code on the embeded site so all the links open in the iframe:

<head>
<base target="name_of_iframe">
</head>

You can also make and host your blog with Webflow and set a subdomain for it, such as blog.yourdomain.com

Both methods have impacts on SEO but I don't know exactly how and how bad.

@vincent Hmm, so what exactly would be the code? I made a test Tumblr blog account and want to see if I can get it to work to show it on my website. How would I achieve this?

#5

Exactly this:

<iframe src="http://www.yourblog.com"></iframe>

info : http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_iframe.asp

You put that code in a embed element that you manage like a div for position and dimensions.

The thing to clear is what happens when a link is clicked in the blog. If you do nothing, a new page will open or the link will open in the tab you're actually in. You want to stay inside your webflow site, where you probably will have th navbar etc.

2 ways to do this : add target='_self' as a property of every link, but it's not appropiated to your case becasue there's a lot of links. So you can add this code to the section of the tumblr (see options in the theme):

<base target="name_of_iframe">

@vincent sorry I'm still pretty new to all of this, what is the correct code for the iFrame?

#7

<iframe src="http://www.yourblog.com"></iframe>

@vincent

Okay... So say I want to embed my google blogger into my website. I have a dedicated page on my site for this blog. What is the exact code and where do I place each code? I'm a tad confused!

blog: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+QuantumMerchantServices/posts

<iframe src="https://plus.google.com/+QuantumMerchantServices"></iframe> would this be correct? Then where would I place the other code?

Anyone have any idea or be able to help me walk through this? I'm sorry I'm so new! :sweat:

If you want your blog to appear on a different page of your website, you could just install Wordpress in a subdomain (blog.site.com) or a sub folder of your website (site.com/blog)

And the Webflow files you can just put them in the root of your public folder.

Hi @Quantumgo not a problem!

Let me try to help:

1) Create a new page on your Webflow site

2) Drag in an EMBED component onto your page: http://help.webflow.com/faq/how-to-use-the-embed-widget-to-add-custom-code-to-a-webpage

3) Copy/Paste in the code <iframe src="https://plus.google.com/+QuantumMerchantServices"></iframe>

Try these steps and let me know if you're successful. I'll be standing by for your response! :slightly_smiling:

Cheers,
Nelson

This is what it is showing me http://testingblog.webflow.io/

You won't be able to do that because of google's xframe origin:
