Can "button" styling be used for different buttons?

I’m working on rebuilding the Atlas website as per the tutorial.

Close to the top of the page there is a signup button which was named “button.”

Now I’m in the middle of the page working on tab buttons and they are also to be named “button.”

Is this possible? Won’t the changes I make on the second set of buttons affect the first (which is to look a lot different)?

You can create combo classes like .button .button-tab-button or create another class called about-tab.
