Can this site be made on Webflow?

#1

I would like to create a site which allows me to create lists of athletes based on ranking and then possibly having a personal bio page for EACH athlete. I would also like the athlete to be able to log in and make modifications to their personal page but that sounds hard. However, I'm not really sure where to start or what the design would consist of...suggestions?

Site "must haves":
- At least 10 pages which include "top 100" (or more) rankings
- Lists must be easily editable so I can modify the lists without redo-ing the entire thing
- Each list item displays at least the name, location, gender, and 2 more ranking parameters
- Kicker: Be able to sort these lists dynamically by state/country/gender/etc

Would like:
- Click-able names to at least open a small bit of more info (pop out?); would prefer a separate bio page but that's a lot of pages
- Capability which allows an athlete to log in and update their profile with bio photo and further information.
- Have the ability for an athlete to pay to have their name featured in some way

Clif notes: a lot like Rivals.com but cleaner and simpler

Any help knowing before hand if this is possible and/or worth it via Webflow would be amazing, thanks!!

that is possible.

that is NOT possible. What you require is a database backend to help with login credentials on other dynamic data. Webflow is mainly used to static sites or static prototypes very quickly.

What you can do at this time is create your idea on Webflow first, then export the whole site, then get a web dev to help you fill in your static site with dynamic data from a database.

Good luck =)

Great thanks. So are you saying that it IS possible to have lists which are sortable by the user?

There are no filters in Weblow yet so no, you can't filter/sort a list. To make it short, Webflow is for now a static website builder, and what you describe is a dynamic website, a site with a database if yiou prefer, a site with CMS features. So your project is a good candidate for Wrodpress I guess. You'll find on Wordpress a lot of plugins to help you manage such things... it's not out of the box, you eed to identify the components you need. And resolve the athletes access to the site, wich is not a simple thing... WP allows for editors roles but they'll have to deal with the backend UI. If you want the athelets to log "in front" with a super simple interface, I'm afraid this requires a bit of custom code.

Yup the site template can definitely be done in Webflow. However the features you mention would need a developer. I note you are proposing to take fees for additional benefits so maybe someone on freelancer.com could help\oblige?

Good luck!

For this I would use Webflow for prototyping and then I would install CouchCMS. I think it would manage all you want fairly easily.
Good luck

Wowzer just had a look at this tool... Seems like a quick win solution for many of my projects. Thanks alot for posting that!

You're very welcome. It is brilliant and suits my workflow.
Enjoy

top 100 ?... via a CMS ?

Are you really sure you want to tackle this ?

I can see this being perfect for the small business sites i develop. It kills me off sometimes having to constantly write code for their little whims smile This will address this perfectly!
