Dropdown Widget triggers mobile nav dropdown in Desktop mode

Hi, I am having the issue here when I click to open the dropdown menu it immediately goes to tablet mode and opens the entire menu in that format. Not sure if I am doing something wrong here or what exactly that would be:

Thanks in advance

Hi @SvenDC, thanks for the post. Does the issue happen in design mode, preview mode or both ?

in design mode, it’s fine when the site is published but its of course annoying to have to design that way

Hi @SvenDC, thanks for your update. Could you possibly create a screencast to show the steps you are taking to reproduce the issue? http://help.webflow.com/general/guidelines#how-can-i-record-a-screencast

That would be a big help  I was looking at the site in design mode, but was unable to get reproduce the same behavior. I want to make sure I am looking at the same steps as you

Here you go

Hi @SvenDC, thanks for the additional information. It looks like your Dropdown Widget has not yet been assigned a class, so it is using the default styling. Try assign it a class and give it a display setting of block.

When I opened the menu however, the view did not change to Tablet mode. When the menu opened, it stayed in Desktop view, and I can see the same from your screenshot, so maybe I am still a little confused as to what is happening, when you click the Open Menu button from the Settings Panel.

Cheers, Dave

Hey Dave

correct I had ‘fixed’ that by having the icon menu set to none; before it automatically went to tablet.

let me see if your fix helps

thank you

Hello Dave

this didn’t fix anything for me and actually made it worse, when opening the same thing still happened:

Hi @SvenDC, thanks for the update, could you take a screencast of what is happening so I can better see what the issue is? http://help.webflow.com/general/guidelines#how-can-i-record-a-screencast

Cheers,Dave

Hi Dave,

sadly both screencast apps suggested are not working on my imac, and one of em is a paying app. Basicallky what is happening is when I try to open the dropdown menu it seems linked to opening the mobile navbar, both buttons are pressed as open instead of just the dropdown

if this helps at all?

Hi @SvenDC, thanks, I understand what you mean now. Yes, I will have to check that. I it seems to happen because the dropdown for the widget triggers the drop down for the nav in desktop mode. I am marking this up as a bug for investigation. Sorry if this causes some angst, I can understand now the issue, and I will check it out

p.s. try Quickcast in the future, that is what i use on my imac  http://quickcast.io/

Cheers, Dave
