Form placeholder linehight

#1

Hi,

Need some help in Form editing-
It seems to be impossible to change the line hight for a placeholder in an text input.
or rather say - changing it behaves in a weird way... which make my placeholder appear not in the middle of the text input box.

Hi @avivtech, could you please help to share the read-only link to your site? http://help.webflow.com/faq/how-do-i-share-my-sites-read-only-link

Also, can you share a screenshot how the text is behaving incorrectly ?

Thanks in advance!

I played now with the padding and line hight and got to the result, but in a "not so pretty" way... my linehight is 41 and the textbox is 40px high

Hi @avivtech, it seems to be working correctly for me. Remember to increase your font size along with line height if you want the placeholder text to be bigger in the input field.

Does this help?

I want the text size to remain 17px, but I want it exactly in the middle (hight) of the box. Since the box is 40 px high, the line hight should be 40, am I wrong?

#8

Hi @avivtech, try setting font size to 17 px, line height to 37px and input line height set to 40px.

How does that look to you?

#9

37 seems a bit too high. 41 looks good, but it feels like a workaround and not a real solution hehe...

Hi @avivtech, this is a design call for you to make. The 37px line height with 40px input height and font size of 17px is centered 10px above and below the text automatically. If it looks better to you to use 41, then go with that.

ok, thank you @cyberdave :slightly_smiling:

If you want the text to be in the middle hieght wise you should not use a fixed hieght but rather have a measure given into the a/a [to the right of the text size]. This way the text is always in the middle. Hope this helps. :grinning:

#13

I didn't quite understand what you mean- a/a ? can you give an example?

#14

I am on iPhone so can't provide a screenshot but notice Cyberdave's screenshot and look at the very bottom right corner. You should see a/a. It is set to 41 px.

:sleepy:

a/a IS LINE HEIGHT...

#16

Correct, but I use the EM measurement and as long as all your text that you want centered height wise is the same size then you can use it and the text will always be in the middle hieght wise.
