Hover Effect - Do timed transitions work w/ background gradient opacity?

I’m trying to create a hover effect on a Link Block that changes the opacity of a gradient background which I have placed over a background image of the same link block. So when I roll over the link block, the color gradient goes away and the image is more clearly revealed.

I am not getting the transition when I hover though. The gradient is just blinking to the “hover” state when I rollover the link block. Am I missing something here?

Sorry if I’m being vague.

I haven’t figured this out yet, but just used a hover interaction instead of the built-in “hover”.
