How can I close modal on click of backdrop

I’ve tried various solutions suggested.
May I know any new solutions?

I had to do this for a client recently, you can see how it works in the popup-wrapper div in the read-only link below. Within your wrapper, make a div and set it to be fixed, full page. Use z-index to position it in front of the outer wrapper, but behind the modal itself. It should be a sibling of the modal, not its parent. Set your closing animation on this div, and it will catch any clicks that are not on the modal itself and trigger the closing animation.
