You can always create a new thread and link to an old discussion for reference/context. The reason why old threads are closed is so ALL the original contributors do not get “pinged” automatically especially if the update doesn’t concern them, or if the thread has been abandoned by the original poster(s). Six months is a very generous time to say that a thread has been abandoned and/or resolved.
You can always ping users directly like this @cjroe in the new thread if you want to shout out to them. Linking to an old topic will also notify the original author of the post by default.
That being said, the entire Wishlist category on the forum is archived for reference purposes only, as we want to be organised and not have duplicate discussions in both places. So please head there to post and discuss wishlisted features, as they are off-topic here.
