Hover on child elements?

Hi all!
I’m trying to use the hover state instead of creating interaction for my elements, but I can’t find a simple solution for a very basic problem…
When I add a hover to the childs of a DIV, they don’t seem to react. For example, if I add a background color to the master DIV, then it works fine. But if I add an opacity change to a text block inside the div, it doesn’t work… The text block should change color when the div is selected, as the whole div is a link. Is there any way to do this? Or should I use interactions?

I have this exact issue and no one explained what the actual fix is on here. can anyone explain/ post a permanent link explaining?
